You may or sadly may have not noticed that BSD News was offline recently. We recently switched hosting services to RootBSD on a virtually shinny new VPS. As many of you know we had been experiencing some issue with the office’s internet provider for a while now and thanks to Hurricane Sandy it became evident that we could no longer rely on the comfort of self hosting.
Thus the search began for a hosting provider that offered a BSD based platform. Honestly, could you imagine BSD News being hosted on a Windows server? We were moving to increase stability not reduce it. Seriously there’s nothing wrong with Windows for certain situations like when you need to run ActiveDirectory, but then if you know how to work with LDAP and Samba4 who really needs AD?
