- Did you now that BSD Magazine is a quarterly publication?
- Did you also know that it is at the news stands of both Borders and Barnes and Nobel?
- Were you aware that each issue include dvd media full of various BSD operating systems and utilities?
If you have answered no to any of those questions then perhaps you should drag yourself down to the nearest rail road, er I mean Borders or Barnes and Nobel to pick up a copy.
Inside you will find articles on various subjects written by long time members of the BSD community. Take for instance “Installing OpenBSD” (which also happens to be on the dvd media included in this issue) written by Ivan “Rambius“ Ivanov. Or ho about Barry Fox’s “Postgres, shared membory and BSD.”
Perhaps you are the proud owner of a Sharp Zaurus and were wondering if BSD will run on this hardware. Fortunately Michael Hernandez lift the mystery of installing OpenBSD on the Zaurus, which is an ARM based architecture, similar to the Palm Treo only much more versatile.
Or suppose you are a fan of Tip & tricks. In this quarter’s issue there is a nice article by Josh Paetzel on how to implement FreeBSD jails. As well as another that sheds some light on using ssh rendezvous points for improved security.
All in all there are 16 articles in this issue that are well worth your time. In addition there are advertisements from various companies who specialize in BSD products and services. I hope that spot lighting the periodical will encourage you to support the community by picking up a copy. Bring it to the next convention and perhaps Dru Lavigne will autograph one of her articles for you…
