I wish I were contacting you all (1100+ email addresses) under more pleasant circumstances; however, the matter is of a rather serious nature. Based on the information recently provided to me I am taking the opportunity to notify you of the system breach affecting BSD News. I have painstakingly scoured the list of accounts as published by the following site:

Although we had suspected that this may have been the cause of the last outage, until someone stepped forward it was difficult to determine such based on the amount of missing and corrupted data in our systems. At this point we do not know the full extent of the damage; however, considering that we have never held any sort of financial or personal data we sincerely hope that this results in nothing more than a minor nuisance for our members. Please ensure that you have reset your passwords on any site where there may be an issue.
